Reagan White House staffer says Romney 'least electable'

(Screen snip from Political Articles video at YouTube)There’s a deep concern among conservatives of different persuasions that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, should he win the GOP nomination, will not be able to win the White House in November.

Despite victories in the 2010 Midterm Elections—victories directly enabled by conservatives and tea partiers—Republican power brokers virtually anointed a single candidate in 2011. The Republican National Committee Finance co-chair saw to that in October.

Remember if power brokers had prevailed, Ronald Reagan would’ve never been president.

Comparing life path numbers for Gingrich, Romney and Obama

In January, 2009, the blogosphere was so intoxicated with the Obama victory that a numerologist became a topic of interest. Glynis McCants appeared on a radio show and the celebrity 'Numbers Lady' said Obama’s life path number was a 2.

A website featuring women writers disagreed. It became apparent they hadn’t followed instructions on how to compute a life path number. I wrote a column about President Barack Obama’s Life Path Number in 2009.

Since everyone got all jazzed about Obama’s number, I figured it might be fun to calculate the life path numbers for GOP presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.

Will South Carolina thin the GOP field?

South Carolina's natural beauty is indisputable. The Palmetto State, however, will be do-or-die for some candidates in the GOP Primary field. (View of Lake Murray by Kay B. Day)Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney now has wins in two states. Candidates are setting up shop in South Carolina, and that state’s GOP Primary will more than likely be a major factor in who stays in the race. Carolina will be the state where the field gets thinned I think.

Many media have pointed out that no other non-incumbent Republican candidate has won in both Iowa and New Hampshire since 1976.

Every time I hear 1976 mentioned in the context of Republican politics, I wonder why we’d want to remember that year.

Although former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is still the overall frontrunner according to averages at Real Clear Politics, Romney continues to enjoy the implied status of presumed nominee among legacy media.

Current averages at RCP show national rankings as Gingrich with 27.2 percent, Romney with 24.8, Paul with 12.6, Perry with 6.4, Bachmann with 6.2 and Santorum with 4.2.

Virginia’s Primary mess limits Republican voters to only two choices for nominee for president

Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich won’t be an option for Republican voters in the Virginia Primary. According to The Richmond Times-Dispatch, the only two candidates GOP voters can choose from are Texas Congressman Ron Paul and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

The Times-Dispatch made a big deal of the mess, calling it a Gingrich “disaster” and “failure.” It’s not the first time a daily paper took a political swipe without divulging the whole story.
