Chu memo expanding federal energy role could chew up your electricity budget

Western Area Power Administration line crews continued work on one of the Sacramento Voltage Support towers near Elverta, Calif. (Photo: WAPA Annual Report, 2011)The House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources held a hearing on Thursday in response to a memorandum issued by Energy secretary Steven Chu. The memorandum related to the role of the Power Marketing Administrators who deliver power to more than 30 U.S. states from federal hydroelectric resources. Sound boring?

Listen up. Chu’s memorandum, if fully implemented, could chew up your household electricity budget. That's just for starters.

U.S. energy woes: Obama unprepared for the inevitable

Obama should have heeded what Harvey Gulf CEO Shane Guidry told Fox News in March, 2011.
It’s painful right now, going to the pump, isn’t it? It’s bad enough we’re paying more for electricity, health insurance premiums and food, but those gas prices pack a double whammy.

President Barack Obama rightly cites a number of reasons the price of gas has skyrocketed, but he omits his energy policy and he also omits his failure to prepare for the inevitable.

Obama and Chu pushed for rising gas, oil prices

High profile publishers on the Left are attempting to blame speculators for ongoing price hikes in gas and oil. Those same publishers—Kos is one example—claim the Right is attempting to damage President Barack Obama in an election year by holding him accountable for higher gas and energy costs.

That simply won’t wash because Obama publicly pushed for higher US energy costs before he became president.

Jimmy Buffett blames Bush for BP

Jimmy Buffett is the latest in a long line to jump on the ‘It’s Bush’s fault’ bandwagon.

From Fox News, reporting on a telephone interview with Margaritaville’s most famous resident:
Buffett, a supporter of President Barack Obama, said the roots of the spill lie with the administration of former President George Bush, which was often criticized for being too cozy with the petroleum industry. "To me it was more about eight years of bad policy before (Obama) got there that let this happen. It was Dracula running the blood bank in terms of oil and leases," he said. "I think that has more to do with it than how the president reacted to it."

Say it ain’t so, Jimmy! Really.

Obama official hearts BP

by Kay B. Day

When Politico reported that President Barack Obama was the biggest recipient of campaign contributions from BP employees and PACs, the president's spokesman said, “President Obama didn’t accept a dime from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists during his presidential campaign.” And Democrats sang the same song in unison, blaming the GOP for BP's crony status.

Truth always outs and it sometimes hurts. Politico said: "During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records."

The most recent demonstration of BP's crony ties surfaced in a YouTube video wherein Secretary of Energy Steven Chu 'hearts' BP when Obama was still a junior senator. The video speaks for itself.

Global warming efforts spike prostitution, broken laws

Updated on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:21AM by Registered CommenterKay B. Day, Editor

Lizards may enjoy increasing populations because of wind turbines. [Photo by Kay B. Day]In a tragicomedy of mishaps (or not), the global warming movement has raised revenue for some prostitutes and increased deaths of raptors like the golden eagle.

First the positive economic news: Politiken (Denmark) reported, “Copenhagen’s sex trade did brisk business during the recent business climate conference.” One prostitute told the paper politicians ”need to relax after a long day.” This phenomenon gives credence to our long standing theory that politics ranks alongside prostitution as our planet’s oldest profession. Thus if your partner or spouse attended the World Business Summit where Al Gore reigned supreme, you may want to ask a few sensitive questions and perhaps even set up a few medical tests.

In Great Britain, a man lost a legal battle over his wind turbine in White Horse District.
