Economy deteriorates as Democrats talk tax hikes, more spending

President Barack Obama won the 2008 election by campaigning on the theme of hope and change. Obama will need a new slogan for 2012. (Photo by Kay B. Day/screen shot)Congress has been forced to lift the US debt ceiling again. Russia’s prime minister compared the U.S. to parasites. Unemployment is sky high and regardless of the Stimulus, the economy remains lethargic. As the economy deteriorates, Democrats are talking tax hikes at every corner, and they want to spend even more.

Bloomberg said on Tuesday the government may consider another Stimulus.

Joint presser with Rubio, LeMieux: Florida has ‘suffered greatly’; 50 out of 50 on Stimulus

US Senate candidate Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) held a joint press conference by phone with Sen. George LeMieux (R-Fla.) on Tuesday, saying Florida has “suffered greatly because of job losses” during the country’s economic downturn. LeMieux implied that big government is part of the problem, “creating thousands of pages of new federal programs that are job killers.”

LeMieux also said government is creating “such uncertainty businesses can’t hire people.” Business owners don’t know what the next mandate or regulation or new tax will be. “Eighteen months ago,” he said, “this administration said 3 ½ million new jobs would be created by August, 2010.” That didn’t happen. “Florida was 50 out of 50 in Stimulus dollars received.”

House Republicans release video showing depth of Democrat propaganda

House Republicans have issued a video showing the depth of Democrat propaganda pitching issues like the Stimulus bill that is by most accounts a miserable failure. California congressman Darrell Issa (R) issued a report on Monday. The report addresses propaganda used to pitch issues like healthcare, education and even Justice Dept. matters.

Issa is the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

In the report analyzing Obama's public relations and propaganda initiatives, Issa said, "Under one-party rule in 2009, the White House used the machinery of the Obama campaign to tout the President’s agenda through inappropriate and sometimes unlawful public relations and propaganda initiatives."

In Monday's column about Issa's propaganda report I mentioned the new Federal Trade Commission guidelines from the Obama administration. Democrats appear to have infracted their own guidelines, but that probably won't surprise many. The US Report received this video Tuesday morning. It illustrates how this Congress (who increased p.r. spending) and administration promote their candidates with taxpayer money and money borrowed from US Sugar Daddy China. Obviously the depth of propaganda is deeper than we realized.

Rep. Gingrey plugs ‘America Speaking Out’

Rep. Phil Gingrey, M.D. (R-GA), shown here at an America Speaking Out townhall, delivered the weekly Republican address, saying Americans are “fed up.” [Screen snip of Rep. Gingrey from US House website.]In the weekly GOP address, Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D., (R-Ga.) said Americans are “fed up.” And for those who are really fed up, Gingrey thinks ‘America Speaking Out’ is the perfect remedy.

Gingrey said, “Americans are fed up with how things are going in the country right now. They see more job losses, rising debt, and plummeting home sales. They feel let down by a government that passes one 2,000-page, trillion-dollar law after another instead of focusing on addressing the problems Americans worry about every day.”

Chris Matthews gets busted on 'regime'

by Kay B. Day

The left of late has taken to having fits over Rush Limbaugh using the term ‘regime’ to describe the current Democrat-controlled Congress and President Barack Obama. No one does indignation better than leftwingers who conveniently forget at least 50 percent of American history anytime they open their mouths about politics.

Chris Matthews—failed Primary candidate for the House of Representatives, speechwriter to Jimmy Carter, aid to top leftwinger House Speaker Tip O’Neill and one-time worker for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee—told his audience using a word like ‘regime’ to describe current Democrat powers “rejects our right to debate politics.”

Rubio-Crist debate shows sharp divide on Stimulus and no indie run for Crist

Rubio and Crist faced off on Chris Wallace's Fox News Sunday. [photo from screen by Kay B. Day]Former Speaker of the Florida House Marco Rubio debated Governor Charlie Crist on Chris Wallace’s Fox News Sunday and the difference in the candidates was glaringly obvious. Both Republican candidates approach the role of a senator differently—there’s a sharp contrast in perspectives on the duties of the federal government and on matters like the Stimulus. That contrast even applies to politicians the two admire.

Crist named Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) as leaders he most admires.

Rubio named Sen. Jim DeMint, leader of the Senate Conservatives Fund. That fund has officially endorsed Rubio. DeMint, like Rubio, is very popular with grassroots fiscal conservatives.

Big welcome for Romney amid waning support for Democrat policies

Gov. Romney received a warm welcome in Jacksonville for Lincoln Day. [File photo from Stephen Butters/Republican Party of Duval County.]Commentary by Kay B. Day

The Duval County Republican Party said that the Lincoln Day event on Nov. 9 was an “unparalleled success.” The annual fundraiser was themed, “An Evening with Governor Mitt Romney, Honoring Tom Petway.” Duval GOP leaders said the event ”topped all previous such events in Northeast Florida.” Days before Romney’s visit, GOP leaders had to expand the event space to accommodate demand for tickets.
