CAIR-Michigan a defendant in lawsuit over event shutdown

David Horowitz who is Jewish had an exchange with this young woman when he gave a speech at the University of California-San Diego in 2010. The young woman said she was a member of the Muslim Students Association, and she invited Horowitz to Hitler Youth Week.(Screen snip from video)A new lawsuit has been filed after the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Michigan was allegedly involved with others in shutting down a public event that included the participation of Act! For America.

CAIR is a Muslim advocacy organization; AfA is a Western advocacy organization.

The Thomas More Law Center issued a statement on Friday about the suit naming CAIR-MI and its executive director, the city of Allegan (MI), the Allegan Police Dept. and the School District as defendants. The lawsuit alleges the accused committed both constitutional (civil rights) and contract violations.

The event titled ‘Constituting Michigan—Founding Principles Act,’ featured three speakers on January 26, 2012. Organizers had rented the auditorium at Allegan High School. The presentations also included information about the compatibility of Sharia and Western law.

Thomas More Law Center wants ObamaCare ruling reversed

The Thomas More Law Center wants to reverse the ruling by U.S. District Court Judge George Caram Steeh who was the first federal judge to rule on the merits of Obamacare. The bill’s formal title is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

TMLC says judge’s ruling on ObamaCare is ‘ripe for appeal’

The Thomas More Law Center responded to a ruling on a lawsuit challenging some aspects of ObamaCare such as the individual mandate. Judge George Caram Steeh, a Clinton appointee, determined that forcing Americans to purchase a health insurance plan or pay a tax, is acceptable.

Does sharia trump the US Constitution in Dearborn?

[Photo courtesy of Thomas More Law Center].The Thomas More Law Center issued a statement about the arrests of four Christian missionaries at the Annual Arab International Festival held in Dearborn, indicating the arraignment on criminal charges will take place on Monday, July 12. The proceedings will be held starting at 8 a.m. in the 19th Judicial District Court [16077 Michigan Ave.] in Dearborn.

The TMLC statement said, “This is the next step in what has been described as police enforcement of Sharia law in a city dominated by a large Muslim population.”

Three pastors and family advocate file challenge to federal Hate Crimes Act

Congress passed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act by including it in the National Defense Authorization Act/2010. At the time Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said, “It is indeed unfortunate that we are using the brave men and women in uniform as leverage to pass hate crimes legislation.”

Months before President Barack Obama signed the Act, as the legislation bounced around Congress, I remarked that language in the Act appeared to be unconstitutional. The Thomas More Law Center appears to agree, having filed a federal lawsuit against Att. Gen. Eric H. Holder to challenge the constitutionality of the Hate Crimes Act.
