Senate candidate Hasner suggests LeMieux owns piece of ‘Durbin Tax’

The blogosphere is ablaze again; flame of the day is the ‘Durbin Tax,’ an amendment to the Dodd-Frank financial regulations bill.

Anyway, US Senate candidate Adam Hasner (R) is reminding voters that Sen. George LeMieux (R) who was appointed by then Gov. Charlie Crist (NPA) actually voted for what Hasner said was the “liberal Democrat Senator Durbin’s Debit Card Tax.’

Hasner polls on par with fellow Republicans seeking to topple Nelson

Never let it be said Republicans run short on candidates. Three well-known Republicans are engaged in a battle for the chance to topple Florida Democrat Bill Nelson from his U.S. Senate seat. The battle is fairly heated, considering the three Primary contenders all belong to the same Party and claim conservative positions.

Democrats prove Rubio right—election a referendum on identity

US Senate candidate Marco Rubio is shown here addressing CPAC 2010.Marco Rubio, the GOP candidate in Florida for a US Senate seat, joined fellow candidates covering the state during the weekend to continue to build support ahead of the November elections. The Miami Herald, in a surprisingly positive article, referenced Rubio’s stance that the 2010 election is a referendum on America’s identity as a nation and a people.

Rubio’s right—if you study the policy and legislative decisions coming out of Washington, you begin to see just how critical these elections are.

NPA Crist seesaws on ObamaCare and gets Democrat endorsements

Could politics in Florida get more bizarre? Gov. Charlie Crist just got two endorsements from two Democrat legislators. The Palm Beach Post said, “State Sen.-elect Maria Sachs, Delray Beach, and State Rep. Darryl Rouson, District 55, based in St. Petersburg, praised Crist at the South County Civic Center before a crowd of about 100 voters who braved the rain to snack on bagels and meet the Republican-turned-Independent.”

Aside from a phantom knife in Rep. Kendrick Meek’s back, what’s wrong with that sentence from the newspaper?

Rubio’s personal history resonates with weekly GOP address and ‘Dream’ ad

US Senate candidate Marco Rubio (R) got right to the heart of a political matter on the minds of many when he delivered the weekly GOP address on Saturday. The former speaker of the Florida House said, “Today the American Dream is threatened by out of control politicians in Washington, who think that more government deficit spending is what it takes to grow our economy. That has never worked anywhere it’s been tried and it won’t work now.”

For Rubio, the American Dream is a personal issue. And for many of us whose personal history includes memories of growing up in small towns and rural areas, his personal history resonates.

Reader says Crespo best for Florida Dist. 25 seat in US House

To the Editor:

Enough with career politicians.

For too long we have watched career politicians move around the public sector, simply padding their nests and increasing their influence and power over the people. The contest for the open U.S. House seat in [Florida] District 25 is a prime example. The timeline reveals much about the players involved:

‘First Read’ apparently confused about GOP wins, downplays Rubio

Because I still have a brain intact, I don’t really take blogs like First Read too seriously. After all, the blog is hosted at MSNBC and we all know how that network swings. But there’s a statement so silly in the Wednesday post, 'First Thoughts: Tea Party Wins Again', I felt compelled to adjust the record. The statement relates to former speaker of the Florida House Marco Rubio who is running for the US Senate.

Rubio is the presumed GOP nominee who in November will challenge IINO (Independent in Name Only) Gov.  Charlie Crist and the winner of the Democrat Primary. The MSNBC blog reported winners of various primaries and then the blogger said, “And then you have Marco Rubio in Florida, who won his primary by default.”

By default?
