Tallahassee Republican women host 'Real Women Shoot Back'
Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 1:33PM The Tallahassee Republican Women’s Club, Federated (TRWCF) will host an Inaugural GOP fundraising event, ‘Real Women Shoot Back 2010’ on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Coon Bottom Gun Club in Florida’s capital city from 2-5 p.m.
The event is open to men and women in the community and will feature special guest speaker Mrs. Ingrid McCollum, wife of Florida gubernatorial candidate and current Attorney General Bill McCollum.
Local candidates will also be on hand to meet and share messages with attendees.
A variety of activities will entertain, including skeet shooting, trap shooting, a pistol range, a raffle for a pink rifle, BBQ food and more.
TRWCF hopes to raise money to help Republicans candidates in upcoming elections, and to inform voters in the Big Bend community about the political process and to get them involved.
People as far away as California have heard about this event and have emailed asking how they can support TRWCF.
The TRWCF is a federated club of the Florida Federation and National Federation of Republican Women. As a dynamic and relevant political organization in Florida's capital, the goals of the organization are to recruit and elect Republican leaders, advocate for the Party's conservative principles and empower women of all ages in the political process.
All three Florida Attorney General candidates have been invited to the Tallahassee event. As this announcement was prepared, the status of invitees is as follows: Candidate for Attorney General, Holly Benson – Confirmed; Lt. Governor & Candidate for Attorney General Jeff Kottkamp – Declined.
Among local candidates who are confirmed as of Apr. 22 are: David Ward, Leon County Commission District 5; Ann Yarko, Florida State House, District 9; Donna Allocco, School Board, District 1; David Scholl, US Congressional District 2; Rick Malphurs, Leon County Commission at Large, Group 2; Eddie Hendry, US Congressional District 2 and Dianne Berryhill, US Congressional District 2.
Cindy Graves, president of the statewide organization Florida Federation of Republican Women will attend. Graves said, “As the largest grassroots political organization in the state, the members of the FFRW celebrate our freedoms daily by empowering women in the political process. No doubt our 2nd Amendment rights will be showcased in a whole new light at this electrifying event on Sunday and women will certainly leave empowered in more ways than one!”
Former Chairman of the Leon County Commission and civic leader Ed Depuy is also excited about the event. Depuy said, "The event of the year is upon us...Great BBQ, shooting, social networking...It does not get any better than this. If you miss it, you'll be sorry!"
Leon County State Committeewoman Cynthia Henderson said, “This will be one of the most fun and unique GOP fundraisers around, and we are excited to have it take place here in Tallahassee!”
