White House assault on Limbaugh a smokescreen for ineptitude, broken pledges

Rush Limbaugh's talk show draws 20 million listeners. He stands to gain more if Dem assaults continue.[Photo from rushlimbaugh.com.](Washington, D.C.)—To say we’re living in strange times is an understatement. A March 4 story in Politico said Dem strategists, leftie advocacy groups and even former Israeli Army volunteer who’s now Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel have their britches in a wad as we say in the South over a popular conservative talk show host.
In a direct insult to Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele, various Democrats have dubbed Rush Limbaugh the head of the Republican Party. Steele is the RNC's first African-American chair. Does that Dem insult amount to racism?
The strategy is thought to be clever by establishment media. I think it’s pretty silly to invest time in assaulting a media personality, especially if the assailant is on government payroll, but then I think most of what goes on in Washington in both political parties is pretty silly right now. My hound dog—even my chicken—could’ve passed a better “recovery” bill than the representatives and senators (mostly Democrats this go-round) came up with. The Republicans who signed onto that bill should hang their heads in shame.
Personally I think the Dem strategists are running a smokescreen for screwing up less than 2 months into the new administration’s term. They need cover and they’re desperately grabbing at any available option.
My hound dog could've done a better job on TARP 1, the "Recovery" bill and the Omnibus Spending bill than our Congress and President have done. For example, there’s a mandate to already stressed employers to fund 65 percent of a dismissed employee’s health insurance for up to 18 months after dismissal. Mainstream media promoted this as a plus for former employees without mentioning those employers may have to cut other employees to meet this obligation. So here we have an administration determining benefits for employees. In the old Soviet Union, that might be expected. In America, it’s radical.
Every time a Wall Street employee sees our new president or one of his economic guys on TV, those employees I am certain want to say, “Please, Mr. Prez, just shut up!” Be glad for those greedy Wall Street guys. They’re the redemption for your 401k whether you like it or not.
Then there are the tax dodgers. President Barack Obama attracts these guys like a steak draws my hound dog.
Then there’s the matter of lack of security regarding people entering the country illegally. Obama’s not the first president to ignore his duty to the constitution on this matter. When his Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano got angry over a bust of 28 illegals in Washington, well, that was another strange moment. Rumors are afloat some of those arrested are gang members. Many consider what’s going on right now an invasion of our country, one that has stretched our education, health and law enforcement resources to a breaking point. Most conservatives welcome immigrants. All conservatives want our laws observed, especially if those laws relate to national security.
Russia’s still laughing over Obama’s letter about Iran and Hamas is rubbing collective hands over the approximately $1 billion we’re about to send over there on top of the billions we’ve already given Gaza.
Meanwhile, the only sector growing jobs is government. At this point, I’m tempted to say, “Hail to you, Comrades.”
Funny thing is, the Dem brouhaha is actually enlarging Limbaugh’s audience. The only time I listen to talk radio is in the car. Today I listened to part of Limbaugh’s show here in the office. I talked to several people yesterday who say they’d never listened to him. Now they’re tuning in to see how he responds to the assaults.
I’ve often said conservatives tend to turn tail and run when media goes after them. Somehow, I don’t think Limbaugh is going to run. The popular Florida-based conservative icon has unloaded on every president in recent times, both Republican and Democrat. He was merciless to GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain. As far as I can tell, Limbaugh puts his country above his party. Too bad the current Democratic administration can't do the same.
During the campaign, Obama pledged to "reach across the aisle." Instead, he's doing the football bait and switch like Lucy in Peanuts. Hardly the change some wearing rose-colored glasses expected.
As Democratic chiefs focus on kiddie games in the media while the economy tanks and our Homeland Security Chief focuses on law enforcement doing their jobs to her dismay, I have to ask you. Do you feel safe? Doesn't this feel exactly like the end of President Clinton's second term? Do you remember what his ineptitude with homeland security led to?
If you read this column regularly, you'll know we predicted so much of the ineptitude that's occurring right now. We predict much more to come.
