Wired says Palin email hacker may be son of Democratic state representative

The alleged hacker who accessed and distributed messages from Gov. Sarah Palin’s Yahoo email account posted an explanation of how he did it at 4chan. Wired says the story was posted only briefly and the hacker may be the son of a Democratic state representative. In the alleged confessional the hacker said, “[he found] nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped.”

Commenters at Wired offered a mixed reaction. Some claimed Palin had “official state business” in the emails, although there’s no way to tell that without reading the email. I get emails all the time with old subject lines, sent from one address to another in the mix of accounts I use. Others thought the hacker stooped pretty low.

What’s really interesting is the attitude of many liberals who seem to think the invasion of privacy was justified. And there seems to be naivete on the part of the public who don’t realize that many politicians may have private accounts and there’s no way to tell what’s in those, especially if the politicians are Democrats. If a Republican hacker broke into Sen. Joe Biden’s email account, a cry would be heard around the world—indeed, the Internet would probably implode.

If you walk backwards through history, the Democratic Party has been very successful at keeping secrets from the public. For instance, all of the Kennedy brothers' papers are still not released and the party hid serious illnesses in two presidents: Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. To presume Republicans are the only politicians who might use an alternate email address is to make an incredibly stupid assumption. The alleged hacker seems very proud of himself, and judging by the account at Wired, the hacker's only regrets are not finding what he hoped to and getting caught by authorities.
